Dear TC11 members,

Unfortunately, the ICDAR conference has been targeted by the predatory WASET publisher. The name of ICDAR has been used to promote a conference taking place in Jerusalem, Israel, in November 2022, with a paper submission deadline on March 15. Please be aware that this is not a real ICDAR conference. In fact, there is no ICDAR conference in 2022. The next real conferences are ICDAR 2023 in San José, USA, and ICDAR 2024 in Athens, Greece (see section Upcoming Conferences and Events in the newsletter).

Regarding upcoming deadlines, please note the extended deadline for submitting to the ICFHR 2022 journal track (March 15) and the final deadline extension for IGS 2021 (March 25).

Call for Papers: 20th Conference of the International Graphonomics Society (IGS 2021) (extended deadline)

Conference Title: Intertwining Graphonomics with Human Movements Conference Venue: Museo Elder, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
Conference Dates: June 7-9, 2022 (On-site)
Deadline for Submissions: March 25, 2022 (final extension)
Website: https://www.graphonomics.net/igs2021

Call for Papers

We are pleased to announce the twentieth edition of the biennial conference of the International Graphonomics Society that will take place from 7 to 9 June 2022 in the “Elder museum of science and technology” in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. The overall objective of this conference is to provide a single track space of discussion about the graphonomic impact trends in other skilled human movements and vice versa. To this aim, IGS2021 is intended to be a stimulating conference to encourage research and discussion from an interdisciplinary point of view.

Topics of interest (but not limited to) are:

  • Neuroscience
  • Handwriting generation, analysis and recognition
  • Biometrics: writer identification and signature verification
  • Symbol, Equation, Sketch and Drawing
  • Human Computer Interaction
  • Sports movements assessment
  • Medical applications
  • Forensic applications
  • Cultural Heritage applications
  • Large digital archives
  • 2D/3D Kinematics analysis
  • Creativity, cognitive and brain-inspired art

Authors are invited to submit original contributions. Guidelines for submission and camera ready format are available on the website: https://www.graphonomics.net/igs2021

Call for Papers: ICFHR - IJDAR Special Edition (extended deadline)

As part of ICFHR 2022, we introduce the ICFHR-IJDAR journal track similar to ICDAR-IJDAR journal tracks in ICDAR 2019 and 2021. This journal track would provide the benefit of rapid and timely turnaround of the scientific developments to the community offered by conferences while maintaining the rigor and discipline of the journal review. We would like to invite exceptional works from the field of handwriting recognition that extend significantly from a typical conference paper.

Author Guidelines

  • Survey papers and papers introducing new datasets are welcome
  • Papers proposing tools will not be accepted. They should be submitted in conference
  • Papers should be well written, concise and clearly motivate the problem and communicate the proposed solution
  • Papers should be comprehensive, complete and self contained. They should not be understood only in association with other paper(s)
  • Submissions accepted for this special edition will receive an oral presentation in the conference
  • Manuscripts should be limited to 20 pages (two columns, double spaced and inclusive of figures), except for cases where the topic warrants additional space. Authors proposing papers longer than 20 pages should provide detailed justification to the editors in the cover letter for the submission. Editors will review requests on a case by case basis.

Areas of Interest

The topics of interest are identical to the ICFHR conference, which are the following:

  • Handwriting Recognition
  • Cursive Script Recognition
  • Symbol, Equation, Sketch and Drawing Recognition
  • Handwritten Document Processing and Understanding
  • Language Models in Handwriting Recognition
  • Web-Based Applications
  • Handwritten Databases and Digital Libraries
