Just a few days ago I attended ICFHR 2010 in Kolkata, India. Though the organizers had to face various challenges, the participants could enjoy a successful conference together with the remarkable hostpitality of our Indian hosts. In Kolkata also the venue for ICFHR 2014 was decided. It will be organized by Basilis Gatos and colleagures in Krete, Greece, in September 2014. For the next major TC-11 conference, namely ICDAR 2011, the TC-11 leadership team is considering to organize a Doctoral Consortium. The goal of such an event is to create an opportunity for Ph.D. students to test their research ideas, present their current progress and future plans, and receive constructive criticism and insights related to their future work and career perspectives. As we would like to hear about your opinions and suggestions on this plan we kindly ask you to complete the following short survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NR33JXZ In the newsletter you will also find the call for papers for the 15th International Graphonomics Society Conference (IGS2011) which will be held in Cancun, Mexico in June next year and three interesting job opportunities for postdoctoral researchers in Japan.
