On Sep. 13, Thursday afternoon, there is an optional trip to Tillicum Village.
The trip includes bus from the conference Hotel to Pier 56, the hour ferry ride to
Blake Island Marine State
Park, dinner, and a Northwest Indian show. Blake Island is the birthplace of Chief Sealth, after whom
the city of Seattle is named. The cost is $75.
The dinner includes steamed clams and nectar, alder-smoked barbecued salmon, a salad bar, potatoes,
Indian bread and desert.
After dinner the show begins. Native American performers portray their ancient folklore through a series of costumed dances and stories.
The show is very well done and will entertain and enlighten you about traditional Native American life in the rugged
Northwest.
